🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 😎🎵! Risky Business score music + Manhunter Soundtrack/score + Heat Soundtrack/score + Miami Vice score + Blade Runner + Shriekback + Sisters of Mercy + a dash of Dune Score music = Drive! Soundtrack and Score! It's not often I rave over an album that "forces" one to buy it as a whole for its optimal hooks, but this is one of those occasions. The movie sells a well-timed mix of its "restricted to album songs," but what I found, as we used to do, is that I ended up listening to the rest of the album, too. Anyone over 30 will remember when (as Arcade Fire says) we didn't want "everything now." We'd buy an album, and listen to it as a whole, sometimes until we knew lyrics that went well into deep cuts for that artist. I think we've forgotten how, just like an artist finds their sound, we have to be open to appreciation of a whole piece, not just eating the proverbial toppings and leaving a mangled pizza crust with chunks missing. We can re-learn that apprecation is BUILT. It's not instant. This album is a perfect example. I wanted those first four tracks, and let the playback go into the sound SCORE (not to be confused with soundtracks) music, and its just as timeless. This album is drenched in New Wave-style ethereal sound score, and then coated in delightful dream-pop style tracks as well. Even the Riz Ortolani ballad, being a bit out of place, finds its own spot as gut-wrenching mood music like "I, Pagliacci" did for _The Untouchables_ in the Connery death scene. If you like dream pop, sound score music from the great directors of the 80s (especially Michael Mann, as in the Manhunter soundtrack/score), and a dose of well-processed beat-driven soundtracks, invest the $10 and listen to it all the way through... at least three times. PS: To all of you that rate this down because of the restricted (to album) tracks, you're not rating the music in that case. Please restrict your ratings to the music, not your rating or lack of understanding score music vs. soundtracks. That being said, APPLE NEEDS A SECTION in which users can upvote complaints about those issues, and put it along with the songs/ratings and reviews/related area.

Really reminded me of something I would have seen in an 80's thriller, which I assume is what they were going for. The whole movie had a strong 80's vibe, but without being campy or cheesy. Basically, a throwback...and the soundtrack only helped to reinforce that. Excellent music really sold the mood. Great job by the composer.

Equally suited as elevator music, for taking a drive, or getting your feet wet in the surf. Recalls all the ambience of every '80s movie you've ever loved, but with the luxury of today's production methods and the influence of all music since. By that I mean it's not all Giorgio Moroder and Tangerine Dream. It's the 2011 cool- aqua LED-lined cityscapes and whisper quiet Impalas, gelled hair and shades. A bit dated 5 years later, but still comfortably grounded in timeless retro. Check out Nightcrawler as well. Another moody night ride for today's generation.

Good, moody, music, electronic with an 80s Jarre / Vangelis / Blade Runner feel. The film, unfortunately, was the usual violent sadistic thuggery, and that association taints my experience of the music.

Awesome movie, even better music!

I loved the film, the director did a great job! I will be seeing "Only God Forgives as well. This soundtrack ties the whole film together. From the opening track and mysteriousness in Gosling's (Driver) personality, to how everything is portrayed, GREAT job Refn! Great job to Martinez as well! Download this you will not be disappointed!
