This is in fact Lightnin' Hopkins. The songs are listed in Leadbitter & Slaven's discography Blues Records as recorded by Hopkins 1948-1951, and this collection looks like it was released on Kent LP 9008. I have most of these songs on an Ace collection of Hopkins' Modern label recordings, 'Jake Head Boogie'
    • Killer Lightnin'

These songs are without a doubt Lightnin' Hopkins! Totally Lightnin Hopkins signature guitar licks and voice here. Just another note, to say Lightnin Hopkins is any less a guitar player than Jimmy Reed couldn't be further from the truth. Lightnin' licks may sound simple but they are very complex and difficult to play. I have never heard the raw sounding "Needed Time" before, indeed a treat!

Check the songs--these are Hopkins tunes, not Reed tunes. Check the sound--not that slow boogie Reed did so well, but Hopkins intense slow return runs. Come on, people.
