      Harlem Blues is by far one of my favorite songs....The soundtrack to this movie is a great jazz album. Much respect to Cynda Williams for a great delivery.

      Great album, but what would really be awsome though is if iTunes included the extended remix of "Jazz Thing" with solos from Branford Marsalis and Kenny Kirkland to this collection.

      I saw this film when I was 18 (26 years ago) and I credit it as the first inspiration for my love of jazz. As far as the ablum goes, one needs only recognize that it's performed primarily by the Branford Marsalis Quartet. It's exceptional and diverse. I've found myself spontaneously whistling the title track for the last 2+ decades, Gang Starr's 'Jass Thing' is absurdly catchy and creative (frankly, I love it), and William's vocals on Harlem Blues are chilling and powerful. The only reason I personally give it 4 stars is because of 'Pop Top 40.' It's mediocre. I just think it's a cheap attemp at spoken word with a jazz backdrop. It's just...alright. That being said - I love this album. If I could give it a 4.5, I certainly would.
