Whenever Ekolu releases an album, they are at the top of Billboard's World Music Chart for a reason, and this album is an excellent example of why they are one of the best in their genre.

After three years of their fans anticipating its’ arrival; finally the long awaited Ekolu album, “Back to the Valley”, The 3rilogy is here! “Back To The Valley” will take you on a musical journey through the fun times that the group Ekolu shares living and performing on the Valley Isle of Maui. The title cut, “Back to the Valley” gives everyone the chance to experience the Valley Isle like you never seen it. If you have missed their first album “Down In the Valley” or their second album “Shores of Waiehu” , you’re in for a special treat with this one. The 3rd album is just what you have been waiting for. It’s like adding sugar to your tea, only sweeter. While listening to their smooth voices and unique styles; it only makes you realize that Ekolu is pure talent. While adding tender and sweet vocal harmonies to a little bit of reggae and Spanish flavors; Lukela sings the song “Antonia” with eloquence . It’s rare to find the lead singer and songwriter for the group singing Hawaiian songs; yet here he is performing a song in Spanish for all to enjoy. With no introduction necessary, everyone knows the bands lead guitarist, Akoni Dellomes. On the CD he sings a song called “Critical Liquid”. Written, performed and arranged by Akoni, this song speaks of how he wakes up every morning waiting for the surf and the swell to come; and when it hits you know where to find him. Makapu Hoopii, the bass player of the band adds his own flavor to the table by singing a song called “Mercy”. He sings this song with emotion and originality. If you’ve seen him on stage; you will recognize this human “ball of fire”. While working on this album, the boys got the chance to be their own producers and also collaborate with one of Hawaii’s most respected and talented engineers, Brett Fovargue.
