I am writing to say how much I like this album. There are so many places where he could have sang a word with an r in it and dropped it, like "trying" or whatevs but he made sure to split the word into two syllables and sang "tuh-rying" so that we can hear the r and good for him. There is one part in the second song where the drummer or someone loses his place and that is unprofessional and we have to hear them restart the song and that could have been better but all in all it is the best country album ever.

Mac is great. He has been one of my favorite voices for years. If you are not familiar with him do yourself a favor and download Southpaw. Country as it should be.

Mac Powell never ceases to amaze me. His voice is so distinctive and the lyrics are on target. Guaranteed to provide you with some new songs that you'll be singing throughout the day for weeks to come. Quality COUNTRY!

I grew up on Marty Robbins, Willie Nelson, George Strait, Bob Wills, Waylon Jennings, Chris Ledoux, Jerry Jeff Walker driving across my uncle's ranch in Central Texas between helping him mend fences and unclog the windmill tanks that "watered the cattle". Mac Powell's writing and melody choices brings me back to the summer nights I learned to dance to the music of the twin-fiddle bands my uncle hired to play at the weekend BBQ parties after long-hot weeks in the Texas sun!!! He is legit! If you doubt it, put on your boots spread some sawdust and put him to the test!!

I know a lot of artists say that they can be "Christians in a band" and not sing Christian songs. I don't buy it. Once you've led people in worship and in ministry, how could anyone want to back to singing about such pointless things? All that we do - especially those in the public eye - have a call to lead people to Jesus. This album doesn't lead anyone to Jesus. I prefer Third Day w/Powell as singer. I don't prefer Christian ambiguity or a lack of the Gospel presentation. Doing things for ourselves with our talents is pointless --- Mac is incredibly talented. Does the album SOUND good? Sure. It sounds like Third Day without Jesus and for me, that's the issue. I only like Third Day WITH Jesus.

Mac powell is an amzing singer with an amazing voice. And an amazing song writer too, Glad he isn't leaving Third Day but glad he is exploring out to other places.
